Responsibilities of Junior Accountant
- Bookkeeping: Record financial transactions by maintaining accurate and up-to-date books of accounts, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Data entry and coding: Enter financial data into accounting systems or spreadsheets, ensuring accuracy and proper coding for easy retrieval and analysis.
- Bank reconciliations: Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure that all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are resolved.
- Accounts payable and receivable: Assist in processing invoices, issuing payments, and reconciling vendor statements for accounts payable. Monitor and follow up on customer payments and maintain accurate accounts receivable records.
- General ledger maintenance: Assist in maintaining and updating the general ledger by posting journal entries and reconciling accounts.
- Financial reporting support: Assist in preparing financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, under the guidance of senior accountants.
- Assist in audits: Provide support during internal and external audits by gathering required documentation, preparing schedules, and addressing auditor inquiries.
- Financial analysis support: Help with gathering data and performing basic financial analysis tasks, such as calculating ratios, comparing actual performance against budgets, and identifying trends.
