As a Computer Technician, your role is to provide technical support and assistance with computer hardware, software, and network-related issues. You help individuals and organizations troubleshoot and resolve computer problems.

Responsibilities

  1. Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues. Analyze symptoms, identify the root cause of problems, and implement appropriate solutions.
  2. Hardware Maintenance and Repair: Install, upgrade, and maintain computer hardware components such as processors, memory, hard drives, and peripherals. Repair or replace faulty hardware components as needed.
  3. Software Installation and Configuration: Install and configure operating systems, software applications, and drivers. Ensure compatibility, apply necessary updates and patches, and resolve software-related issues.
  4. Virus and Malware Removal: Identify and remove viruses, malware, and other security threats from infected systems. Install and configure antivirus software and educate users on safe browsing habits.
  5. Data Backup and Recovery: Implement data backup solutions to safeguard important files and ensure data recovery in case of system failures or disasters. Assist with data recovery efforts when necessary.
  6. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of repairs, installations, and configurations performed. Document troubleshooting steps, solutions, and relevant information to assist with future technical issues. Generate reports on computer systems’ performance, including metrics such as response time, downtime, and inventory management.
  7. Cybersecurity: Implement basic security measures, such as antivirus software installation, firewall configuration, and user access controls. Educate users on cybersecurity best practices and help prevent and mitigate security breaches or malware infections.
  8. Stay Updated and Continuous Learning: Keep up with the latest trends and advancements in computer technology through self-study, attending workshops, and participating in professional development activities. Stay informed about new hardware and software releases, emerging threats, and industry standards.
